Woking Masters swimmers were out in force at the Swim England Masters National Championships at Ponds Forge International Pool this weekend, 28th – 30th October. This season our very own Michael Gar has postponed his University studies to move to Italy to prepare and race in the Grand Prix Triathlon series. He will be doing this to help his aspiration of qualifying for the European and World Championships. He will be returning to Woking Swimming Club on occasion to continue his training and racing. We wish him all the best towards success as he is a very talented young triathlete and very driven.
Woking Swimming Club has continued its strong reputation for placing young Swimmers on the Surrey county swimming development camps they have run each season. These terms are selected based on the previous seasons results. The first of these camps will be run on the 27th of November 2022 at ACS Chobham. This season we congratulate the following swimmers: Girls Ellie Macleod Eva Selden Francesca Johnson Erin Henderson Boys Joshua Hutchinson Our coach Seb Leather will also be a coach on the camps.
Good Luck to our squad of Masters swimmers who are competing at The Swim England Masters National Championships returns this Friday ahead of the three-day event at Ponds Forge International Pool. The 2022 British Summer Championship held in Sheffield and Ponds Forge between the 22nd-28th July. Woking Swimming Club competitors at this meet were Sophie King, Joshua Thompson, Ben Howell, Tegan Gale, Sadie Warmington, Rita Luzan and Abi Elford. There were no swimmers on Day 1. Day 2 Joshua Thompson competed in the Mens 18 years-old 100m Breastroke and finish 18th 1.08.69. Congratulations to Andrew Gordon, a Woking Masters Swimmer, who has been selected to compete in the Commonwealth Games representing Gibraltar, taking place in Birmingham at the end of July. Sophie King, as only the second Woking Swimmer in History, has been selected to represent GB at the European Junior Championships taking place this week. The event, being held at the Otopeni Olympic Swimming Complex in Bucharest, Romania, between 5-10 July, will be a ‘hugely valuable learning experience’ for one of the largest British junior squads to participate in Europe’s premier age-group competition. The Woking Surrey Masters Squad were out in full force for the Surrey Masters County Championships, held at SSP over the weekend of 25th/26th June. Following the spectacular results at Nationals in Mid-June, the squad were determined to make their mark at County level and did not disappoint. The Masters event are a fabulous opportunity for swimmers of all ages to compete. The championships saw swimmers from 18 year olds to the 91 year old infamous multiple World Record, Jan Asher, still flying off the blocks and smashing the events....
What an incredible three-day Masters National Championships for our WSC Masters squad! The Masters Nationals is the main event in the domestic Masters swimming calendar and was held from 17-19 June 2022 in Aberdeen.
