The first major meet of the season saw swimmers compete at the Winchester leisure centre for the Regional Short Course winter championships. The short course season, running from September to December, is a great way to hone skills and test the development of your progress against some tough competition early on in the season. Woking SC competed in the 2nd Round of the National Arena League, Premier division for the South league at The Spectrum, Guildford on Saturday the 11th of November. A squad of 24 Woking Masters swimmers descended on Sheffield’s Ponds Forge for the 2023 Swim England Masters National Championships, claiming 3 European records, 12 British records and a haul of 44 medals on their way to finishing as the fifth-ranked club. The Surrey Age Group Championship - Relay Gala was held on 10/09/2023 all the way down at K2 in Crawley. It was a bit of an unusual meet being held so early in the season, a warm up being held on the athletics track outside and the swimmers seating area being the grandstand out in the sun. Woking had four swimmers attending the National Summer Meet at the beginning of August, held at Ponds Forge Swimming Centre in Sheffield. Our swimmers representing the club were Fredrick van der Leest (17), Rita Luzan (16), Lucy Wheeler (13) and Alex Platt (13). Woking Masters Spectacular Golden Glory at World Championships in Japan Five Woking Masters swimmers travelled to Japan to represent Great Britain at The 19th Fina World Masters Championships, held from 2-11 August 2023. The event, which featured artistic swimming, diving, open water swimming, pool swimming and water polo took place in three cities; Fukuoka, Kumamoto and Kagoshima, with the swimming events held in Fukuoka City at the Marina Messe and Fukuoka Nishi swimming centres directly following the Fina World Championships.
