Arena Junior League 2021, provided our junior swimmers with an opportunity to race during lockdown, however, due to the pandemic we could only race 'in-house'. This year we have been able to compete in the Junior League again, but had some great competition which created an amazing atmosphere for fast swimming.
Round 1 we were up against Elmbridge Phoenix, Kingston Royals and Epsom District.
The events contained individual swims and mixed relays in the 9/10, 11, 12 year age groups.
For some of our junior swimmers it was their first licensed, official meet and they raced exceptionally well holding some great technique. Almost everyone achieved a PB either in their individual or as a relay swim. There were some outstanding swims across the board with swimmers in all age groups achieving potential county times for the following year already and demonstrating great technique from the hard work in training.
A huge congratulations to Alexandra Platt (11) breaking our very own Commonwealth Games swimmer, Anna Maine's 10 year old club record in the U12 SC 50m Freestyle with a time of 28.69. We hope you continue to work hard and see how far you can go.
They all raced valiantly and by the last event we were tied with Epsom on 93 points. Unfortunately, Epsom just pipped us in the 6x50m squadron by a small margin to take the win for the evening.
The team environment and attitude was flawless with everyone cheering and supporting all team members no matter which age group or squad they were in.
The next round will be hosted by us at Pool in the Park on Sunday 19th June. Team selection is subject to change at coach's discretion.
