South East Summer Champs Weekend 3

The last weekend of Swim England South East Age Group Regionals brought some great racing across the board. Woking Swimming Club had some great results over all the Boys finished Ranked 29th and the Girls finished ranked 8th out of approx 100 clubs.
 
Day 1, Session 1 saw Josh in the 200m IM, followed by Ellie Macleod claiming a bronze medal in the 1500m Free with a time of 19:49.62. We then had Ryan Turner in the 800m Free narrowly missing out on a medal but dropping 20 seconds of his PB and bagging a new U14 Club Record in a time of 9:47.91.
 
Session 2 brought more events, starting with the girls 50m Back with swims from Violette, Verity and Francesca. Francesca qualified 4th to the final with a great swim which she then upped by coming 3rd in the final in 33.27. The boys then had a good showing in the 50m Free with Josh going sub 30 for the first time in 29.75 to make the final; 0.9s PB from Ben Platt to go 26.48; Ryan Turner making the final in 7th; and Ryan Grealou on his PB. In some close and exciting finals Josh finished 7th and Ryan finishing 4th with 28.09. These were followed with the Girls 200m Breast and Boys 200m Fly. In the Breaststroke, both Ellie and Lucy making the finals where Ellie finished 8th in 3:07.32 and Lucy finished 2nd in 2:52.70. More finals made with Josh in the 200m Fly where he held 6th after recently swimming the 50m Free final. Neco Truter also putting a strong swim together in the 200m Fly. The last races of the day were the girls 100m Free and boys 100m Back. After a great swim Daniel Turner finished 11th just outside the final but with a PB of 1:05.57. Two of the girls also just missing the finals but with solid swims, shaving  at least 2 seconds of their best times in the 100m Free, were Francesca (9th) and Ellie (10th). Alex Platt rounded off the day with a superb swim of 1:02.03 as a new PB to make the final, in the final she finished 5th.
 
Day 2, Session 3
Saw the Woking swimmers determined to finish strong which they certainly did. Ryan Grealou performed a new half second PB in the 50m Breast to go 35.36. We then had a good showing in the 50m Fly with Francesca qualifying for the final in 3rd; and then Ellie Macleod (14th), Alex Platt (17th) with a new PB, Evie Owen (36th), Violette Hornzee (30th) and Izzy Rose (38th). Daniel Turner then took to the 200m Back coming 14th in 2:25.58. Next up was the girls 200m Free where Ellie Macleod qualified in 6th for the final dropping 4.91 seconds off her previous best time; in the final she then dropped another 2.94 seconds to move up to 4th in 2:20.29. The boys 100m Fly had Neco swimming a 1:10.20 for 22nd and Josh Hutchinson narrowly missing out on the final by 1 spot with 1:15.61. The final event of the session was the girls 100m Breast which we had Lucy Wheeler coming 2nd in a close finals race in a new PB time of 1:19.59.
 
Session 4
Involved 50's and 400's to finish the meet. Daniel Turner led off the session with fast 50m Back shaving 0.88s off his previous best to swim 30.64 coming 10th. Francesca and Alex followed with the girls 50m Free with Francesca finishing 9th in 30.67 just missing the final and Alex qualifying in 2nd to the final and a new PB of 28.45. Some strong well paced 400's followed, seeing Josh Hutchinson finishing 7th and dropping 4.45s in the 400m Free to finish in 5:06.40; Ryan Turner was next up and with a drop off nearly 10 seconds secured a silver medal outswimming multiple boys in later heats in a time of 4:38.90; Ellie then followed suit in the 400m IM dropping nearly 10 seconds and securing a silver medal from early heats in a time of 5:34.19. Lastly, Alex Platt finished the penultimate race of the meet with her 50m Free final securing a gold medal and club record in a time of 27.83 in a close finishing race for top spot.
