South East Summer Champs Weekend 1
Winchester Sport and Leisure Centre hosted the first weekend of the Summer Championships.
Over the 3 weekends we have 54 swimmers representing the Woking Swimming Club with 37 girls and 17 boys swimming. From the coaching team two of the most pleasing signs of the weekend were our representation in a number of the longer events and team feel down on the pool deck.
Woking Currently sits 20th out of 99 clubs.

Session 1
The weekend started strong with 3 great swims in some tough events.
Ellie Macleod kicked things off for Woking making it into the final ranked 7th in the Girls 11-12yo 200 IM (2.45.64).
Ryan Turner then stepped up winning a BRONZE in the boys 13yo 1500 free 19.05.57, gaining a pb by over 10 sec.
Ellie Macleod was back in the water soon after doing one better and taking home a SILVER in the 11-12yo Girls 800 free with a 10.06.97. Only 0.3 away from the top spot in what was a tight final 50.
Session 2
Session two started with Ellie Macleod competing in her first final of the weekend with a 6th in the 11-12yo 200 IM. Improving on her morning swim with a 2.43.28.
Ellie Macleod made into her second final with the 11-12yo 200 Butterfly ranked 1st with a time of 2.45.48
Joshua Hutchinson also managed to reach a final in the 11-12yo 100 freestyle with a 1.05.69 entering 6th.
Ryan Turner 10th in the 13yo 100 free with a 1.03.40.
The 100 back saw three swimmers competing with Francesca Johnson finishing 11th in the 11-12yo (1.16.72), Verity Larwood finishing 10th in the 13yo (1.15.06) and Violette Hornzee finishing 25th in the 14yo 100 back with a 1.14.34
Finals
Ellie Macleod gave a gutsy swim to finish with a SILVER in the 11-12yo 200 fly 2.47.34.
Joshua Hutchinson finished in 7th in the 11-12yo 10 free with a 1.06.42.
Session 3
Great swim from Ellie Macleod finishing 8th in the 11-12yo Girls 200m Backstroke 2.43.10 final.
Followed by a strong performance from Joshua Hutchinson ending up 6th in 11-12yo Boys 200m Freestyle 2.25.00.
Next up was Ryan Turner with a 6th in 13yo Boys 200m Freestyle 2.15.24 where wasn’t much difference between 3rd and 6th.
The morning finished with a BRONZE to Ellie Macleod in 11-12yo Girls 100m Butterfly 1.13.66 on the back of a strong finish and Francesca Johnson 1.14.45 was close behind in 5th.
Session 4
The final session for the weekend had some more tough events and Joshua Hutchinson was 6th in the 11-12year-old Boys 400IM 5.53.09
A little later on Ellie Macleod finished 5th in the11-12 year-old Girls 400m Freestyle 5.00.12 which was a very close race between 2nd and 7th place.
After Lucy Wheeler qualified for 13yo Girls 50m Breaststroke final she finished 4th with a strong pb of 36.34.

Followed by a strong performance from Joshua Hutchinson ending up 6th in 11-12yo Boys 200m Freestyle 2.25.00.
