Wonder Ware breaks 4 British Records at Welsh Masters Long Course Championships

The Masters Long Course Championship 2023 saw another spectacular weekend of racing for Woking Swimming Club, returning from Swansea with four British records, 24 gold medals, 10 silver medals and 3 bronze medals. 

 

Michelle Ware dominated her age category, securing new British records, along with six gold medals, in the 50 metre backstroke, the 50 metre freestyle, the 50 metre butterfly and the 100 metre freestyle.

 

Ware said: “I was really pleased with my swims and quite surprised to break the records so early in the season!

 
“I’m looking forward to the rest of the swim year especially the World Championships in Japan. 
 
“Thank you to Woking Swimming Club for their continued support.”

 

Strong swims came from all Woking’s female swimmers, Lynda Coggin (5x gold, 2x silver),Jennie Clarke (1x gold, 1x silver) and Crystal Brownett (2x gold, 1x silver) all securing medals.

 

The ladies’ success was emulated in the pool by the men, with Connor Brunt (1x bronze), Patrick Allen (1x silver), Barnaby Rudd (2x silver, 1x bronze), Jamie Cunningham (2x gold), Dean Blackman (4x gold), David Bryant (4x gold, 1x silver and 1x bronze) and Simon Scully (2x silver) returning home to Pool In the Park with medals.
