South East Regional Swimming Youth Championships

The South East Regional Swimming  Youth Championships took place at Wycombe Leisure Centre from 2nd to 5th May and saw a large number of Woking Swimmers Compete.  

Friday

Kicking off the 4 day event was the 800 Freestyle. Darcey Arnold (15) finished 5th with a time of 9:29.88. Ryan Turner (15) secured a PB to finish 7th with a time of 9:22.70

Saturday 

The first event was the Male 200 Freestyle. Alfie Davies (15) finished 7th in the heats with a 2:04.40 then went on to finish a 6th in the final with an improved time of 2:02.96.  

Darcey Arnold (15) swam the 200 Backstroke with a time of 2:28.98 which got her 7th into the finals. She finished 8th with a time of 2:29.46. 

Max Freeman (18+) finished 10th with a time of 30.66 for the 50 Breaststroke 

Next up was the 50 Butterfly. Alex Platt reached the final in 5th place with a 30.30. She was fractionally off with the final swim of 30.68 to finish 8th. Tegan Gale (17) made the final in 4th with a 29.10 and came 6th in the final with a 29.26. Sadie Warmington (18+) made the final with a personal best swim of 29.37, entering 7th. Sadie bettered her heat time to secure 7th with a 29.31. Sophie King (18+) went into the final 1st with a 27.87 and won the final with a 28.14.  

Daniel Turner (17) made the final of the 100 Backstroke with a 6th place heat finish of 1:03.62. Daniel stepped up a place to finish 5th in the final with an improved time of 1:02.30.  

Alex Platt (15) made the final coming in 4th with a time of 1:00.72 for the final. She finished 8th with a time of 1:02.44 in the final. Darcey Arnold (15) finished 9th with a time of 1:01.59. Tegan Gale (17) made the final in 4th with a time of 59.40 and finished the finial in 7th with a 1:00.03.  

Verity Larwood (15) swam a personal best to make the 200 Butterfly final with a time of 2:33.17 which put her 3rd. She won a bronze medal with an improved time of 2:31.82 in the final. Darcey Arnold (15) finished 9th with a time of 2:38.76.  

Next up was the 50 Freestyle. Alfie Davies (15) made the final in 5th with a time of 25.73 and later bettered this time to 25.51 to remain 5th. Ryan Turner (15) also made the final with a time of 25.99 putting him 7th into the final. He later secured 7th with an improved time of 25.77.  Marco Hincapie (15) finished 21st with a time of 27.00. Max Freedman (18+) finished with a time of 24.93.  

Zoe Kwong (15) went 6th into the finals of the 50 Backstroke with a time of 32.91. Unfortunately Zoe was later disqualified in the finals for passing the 15m underwater limit. Violette Hornzee (16) finished 24th with a time of 33.33. Sadie Warmington (18+) made the final in 4th with a time of 31.17 and finished the final in 6th with a time of 31.63.  

Lucy Wheeler (15) finished the 100 Breaststroke in 11th with a time of 1:19.45.  

Neco Truter (16) finished the 100 Breaststroke in 14th with a time of 1:15.68.  

Sunday 

Darcey Arnold (15) swam the 200 IM making the finals in 6th with a time of 2:31.13. She finished 7th with a time of 2:33.02.  

Darcey also swam the 400 Freestyle winning a bronze medal with a time of 4:38.66.  

Alfie Davies (15) won a Bronze in the 1500 Freestyle with a 30 second pb in a time of 17:24.82

Lucy Wheeler (15) swam the 200 Breaststroke with a time of 2:53.06 putting her 13th.  

Next up was the 50 fly with Ryan Turner making the finals in 6th with a time of 27.59 and finishing the finals in 7th with a time of 27.91.   Alfie Davies (15) also swam a time of 29.26. Jason Richardson (18+) finished 10th with a lifetime best of 26.26.  

Women's 50 Freestyle was next. Alex Platt (15) made the final in 2nd with a time of 27.40 and then won a Silver with a time of 27.38.   Scarlett Brown (16) swam a 28.98. Tegan Gale (17) made the final in 2nd with a time of 27.10 and won a Bronze in the final with a 27.42. Gina Heyn (18+) went into final 5th with a time of 27.58 and swam a faster final with a time of 27.38 to secure 5th spot.   

Zoe Kwong (15) swam the 100 Backstroke with a time of 1:13.01 finishing in 20th. Sadie Warmington (18+) swam a time of 1:08.28 finishing 10th.  

Alfie Davies (15) made the 100 Freestyle final with a time of 56.04 putting him in 7th. Alfie swam a 56.45 to secure 8th place in the final.  Ryan Turner (15) swam a 58.36 to secure 16th place. Marco Hincapie (15) swam 59.07 for 21st place. 

Monday 

Verity Larwood (15) competed in the 400 Individual Medley coming in 14th with a time of 5:33.90. 

Alfie Davies (15) placed 5th in the 400 Freestyle with a time of 4:26.43.   

Lucy Wheeler (15)  finished 8th in the 1500 Freestyle with a time of 19:22.89. Darcey Arnold (15) won Gold with a time of 17:59.95.   

Lucy Wheeler (15) finished the 50 Breaststroke in 12th place with a time of 36.25. Gina Heyn (18+) made the final in 3rd with a time of 33.44. She later placed 8th with a time of 34.11. Sophie King (18+) went into the final 1st with a time of 33.06 and won Gold with at time of 33.44.   

Daniel Turner (17) made the final of the 50 Backstroke with at time of 28.98 putting him in 4th. He later won Bronze with a time of 28.47

Darcey Arnold (15) finished the 200 Freestyle in 10th position with a time of 2:15.14.   

Ryan Turner (15) made the 100 Butterfly final in 7th with a time of 1:02.30. Ryan later bettered his time to finish 6th with a 1:01.58. Daniel Turner (17) finished in 10th place with a time of 1:01.60

Tegan Gale (17) finished the 100 Butterfly in 10th with a time of 1:06.33.  Sadie Warmington (18+) also finished 10th with a time of 1:07.23.  Sophie King (18+) went into the finals ranked 1st with a time of 1:01.75. Sophie later won Gold with a time of 1:01.91.
