Swim England National Summer Meet
Day 1
Ellie led off the meet with a solid effort in the 1500m. 5 seconds off her PB and her second fastest time in the event. She finished 14th in her age group in 19:08.40.
Josh swimming his 1500m in the morning also, finishing 16th in his age group in 19:13.71. Great effort after coming 6th at Open Water Nationals 3km 2 days before.
Day 2
Alex started the day for Woking with a very controlled 100m Breaststroke finishing in 1:17.79 for 15th after being seeded 21st.
Ellie swam the 200m Freestyle finishing 28th in a time of 2:18.57.
Rounding off the heat swims was Josh and Alex racing the 400m IM. Both boys in the same age group and swimming in the same heat in lanes next to each other. A very exciting race between them finishing with Josh 5:21.91 for 11th and Alex 5:22.62 for 14th after being seeded 21st and 23rd respectively.
Day 3
Woking’s busiest morning with 7 swimmers!
The women’s 100m Butterfly kicked off the session for us. Fantastic 4 second PB from Ellie in heat 1, seeded 28th and finishing 14th in 1:09.63. Darcey put in another strong effort to PB in 1:08.44. Next, we had Isabelle and Sadie in the same heat both deploying different tactics and finishing in 1:08.38 and 1:08.59 respectively.
Josh swam next in the 400m Freestyle. A well paced swim leading to a 3 second PB in a time of 4:45.62 and placing 21st.
The next session featured Alex in the men’s 200m Breaststroke. He swam with determination and grit to do near 4 second PB to make the final in 7th in a time of 2:48.02.
Ryan and Josh next in the 100m Butterfly. Ryan’s debut nationals swim in the younger of the double age band. The boys both made new PB’s. Josh swam 1:07.38 for 12th when seeded 27th. Ryan swam 1:03.83 for 30th.
Ellie up next again for her second swim of the day in the 800m Freestyle. A strong first half to finish just outside her PB in 9:50.42 for 15th.
Lastly, the finals session. Woking’s first final of the meet with Alex in the 200m Breaststroke. He finished in 9th in 2:48.99. His first experience at a national meet and to make a national final is a great achievement!
Day 4
Thursday’s session sprang to life in the morning with Josh setting a new PB in his 100 FR, finishing 18th in 61.11 before Ellie pushed herself hard through the 400m FR, finishing in a time of 4:54.42.
The afternoon kicked off with Sadie setting a new PB in the 50 BK of 31.96 to qualify 9th for the final before Ellie took more than two seconds off her 200 IM PB to qualify 7th for her final. Darcey put in a strong effort on her 200 IM but nearly two weeks of hard racing had drained some of her resources, finishing outside the top 10 in 2:35.22.
In their finals, Sadie managed to set another new PB of 31.79 while finishing 6th and Ellie worked hard through her race to finish 9th in 2:33.98
Day 5
Friday’s session started with two gutsy swims from Ellie and Annie in the 200 Fly, finishing in 2:43.06 and 2:37.83 respectively. Josh then stepped up onto the blocks to book his spot in the final with a time of 2:29.30, knocking nearly five seconds off his PB.
In the afternoon, Ellie took on her eighth swim of the meet, finishing the 100m FR in 63.40.
Into the finals session for Josh who swum strongly again to produce another quick time of 2:30.04, just outside his PB that he set that morning, finishing in 9th place.
Day 6
The last day arrived with another swim for Ellie, who pushed all the way to the end of her 400IM, finishing in 5:35.06.
The second session of the day saw Sadie book her second final of the week in the 50m FLY, finishing 5th in a new PB of 29.65. Alfie then took on the 200m FR, where he pulled out a 2:06.98, knocking nearly two seconds off his PB. Sadie then took on the 100 BK where she finished one spot outside the final in 1:08.70.
In the last finals session of the week, Sadie managed to lower her 50m FLY PB even further to 29.52, finishing in 7th place.
