Open Water Regional Championships - Sunday 30th June

Woking SC Webmaster

After a week of blue skies and sunshine, the Open Water Regional Championships on Sunday 30th June was declared a non-wetsuit event, despite the morning being cloudy and a little chilly for the four Woking Swimmers taking on the 2K race.

The boys were up first, with Josh and Takara taking on two laps of the lake; both boys did amazingly well, with Josh crossing the finish in first place, with Takara coming in not far behind.

Ellie and Abby started their 2K race shortly after, both giving strong performances in the water, with Ellie securing the second place for the girls.

After a break for lunch, the sun tried its best to make an appearance for the five Woking swimmers taking on the 3K event; with Ryan the only male representative at this distance, gaining a fifth place finish. The girls were up next with Amy, Darcey, Harriet and Lucy taking to the water, and all achieving great times in the open water discipline, and a bronze medal for Darcey completing the medal set for Woking Swim Club!

Congratulations to Ryan, Darcey, Ellie and Josh on qualifying for the National Open Water Championships in July!
