A solid heat time saw her safely through to the afternoon’s finals against the top senior swimmers in the UK, along with the very top swimmers from Canada ( guest swimmers at Winter Nationals). Anna took nearly a second off her heat time to eventually place 6th in the final with a time of 1:01.98, with the Canadians taking two of the top slots.
A second swim in the 50m free B final saw Anna attain a solid time of 26.54secs.
Woking’s Andrew Roy (swimming for Bath University) swam an amazing 50m fly heat to gain a place in the A final, securing 7th place with a truly amazing time of 24.66 secs, setting a new club record along the way.
A short rest now before a swim on Saturday for Anna in 100m free and 200m back and Anna and ‘The boys’ (Alex, Brin and Andrew) swimming in the 50m freestyle on Sunday.
Day 2 of competing saw Anna compete in the 200m back and 100m freestyle. Anna’s 200m back heat time of 2:16.39 saw through to yet another A final, and managing to better her time in the final to take in a time of 2:15.92 with little separating Anna’s 8th and 5th place positions, and placing her the top U18 British swimmer.
Little rest before Anna’s second A final of the day in 100m freestyle, eventually placing 9th in a time of 56.69sec, this time the fastest U20 British swimmer!
Time for the 50m sprints for the Woking swimmers. First up was 14yr old Brin Dorrell, one of only a few 14yr olds to make the tough Junior QT. Brin stormed to a great PB of 25.51secs , making him the second fastest 14yr old at these SC Nationals. Andrew Roy ( swimming for Bath University) and Alex Smith both swam rapid times of 23.29 and 23.30 secs respectively, both narrowly missing out on the prestigious Mens’ sprint A final by a few one hundredths of a second, but safely through to the evening’s B final.
Anna’s turn for the 50m sprint and her heat time of 29.41 places her in 3rd position going into the senior A final.
Good luck to all the swimmers in the finals tonight!
The 50m sprint finals firstly saw Alex Smith and Andrew Roy compete next to each other in the B final. Both took on the country’s best sprinters and didn’t disappoint : Andrew taking 4th place in a time of 23.18sec and Alex close behind in a time of 23.35 sec.
