Day 2 saw Anna Maine swim a great 100m back in the morning heats to take her through as the only Junior to the Open final. A finals swim then giving her third place among the Juniors.
Day 3 and Julia Jaworska joins Anne Maine for the 50m free; both swimming good times in the heats, Anna’s time taking her through to the Junior evening finals. A fantastic time of 26.20s gave Anna 1st place in the Junior final and second overall among the Juniors.
Day 4 saw the 100m free and 200m back for Anna and another two Junior finals, ranked 1st (in the Junior final, 2nd overall in Juniors) and 4th respectively. A great PB in the 200m back Junior final in a time of 2:14.08 brought Anna home in 3rd place. With very little rest time and the closest final of the night was most definitely Anna’s 100m free Junior final, where the last 5m saw Anna storm home to win the junior final in a time of 56.67sec !
Day 5 and Anna, Ewan Smith, Alex Smith and Andrew Roy swam their 50m heats in back and free. Anna’s heat time of 29.07 sec in the heats takes her, yet again, as the only Junior into the main finals. Ewan Smith was rewarded for all his hard work this season with a huge PB in 50m free, missing the Junior final by an agonising 0.01 sec in a time of 24.07. Andrew Roy sails through to the Target Tokyo finals in a time of 23.63 sec and Alex Smith was on form yet again in a rapid time of 23.30 sec giving him a 16th place in the Open age group.
The finals saw Andrew Roy, in the 50m free Tokyo potential final and swimming for Bath University, swim a solid 23.66 sec and Anna, as the only Junior in the senior 50m back final, take an impressive 5th place in a time of 28.79sec, and in doing so hoping to secure her place on the GB team for the World Junior Championships in August.
A great week of swimming for the Woking Team!
