Founded in 1935, Woking Swimming Club is the home of competitive swimming for Woking and the surrounding areas.
Based around our home pool at Woking Pool in the Park, we are a friendly and thriving club with a growing membership from our Learn to Swim groups and Associates through to our full members.
As well as our home pool at Woking, we also have the added bonus of being able to swim at Guildford High School, Pirbright, Notre Dame Convent School, Cranmore School, Reeds School and Aldershot Garrison.
Our Learn to Swim classes take place in purpose built schools at Goldsworth Primary School and Horsell Junior School. Many of the teachers and assistants are current Woking swimmers who have achieved teaching qualifications whilst in these roles.
In 2009 we purchased a new Electronic Timing System and very successfully hosted our inaugural open meet in May 2010. This event has continued to run annually ever since and in December 2015 we introduced a winter meet, the December Dasher.
Over the Summer of 2010 we appointed a new head coach, Vince Ayling, who together with his experienced coaching team have continued to develop the club with some outstanding results. With the hard work and commitment from coaches and swimmers alike, the results have been evident at club level through to Surreys, to Regionals and Nationals. The number of swimmers to have represented the club at such levels has continued to grow over the last six years as these figures show:
Along with County, Regional, Zonal and National qualifiers, the club is also proud to add Olympic Tri-athlete and Paralympic champions to its successes.
The friendly yet competitive feel of the club has watched many fit and healthy athletes establish strong friendship groups, achieve personal and club goals and continues to enhance the success of the club, not only as a local one but as one that is recognised by British Swimming as a National club that is ‘doing something right’.
